Freedom of expression
I always see this coming from various authors of different blogs. They say they are just using their freedom of expression when they write stuff concerning various issues that surround them. A-Okay. No problem with that. But there are certain situations when they overuse or should I say abuse that right by using slander to defame or belittle a particular group or individual. And when they get what they deserve, receiving shit from those whom they hurt, they start to take shelter in the auspices of freedom of expression to justify their actions.
I am all for being free in expressing my views but I also make it a point to think several times before I hit the Submit button. I know that everything I write online can be accessed by those who might be offended with my post. I am not saying that I am confined to blog on positive things alone but when I talk shit about certain issues, I have to be cautious with the way I deliver my message.
As long as the manner of expressing the view is objective and not intended to attack the person in question, freedom of expression is exercised. But when you attack the person and not the issue, using words that intend to destroy his person or his social standing, that is something that I believe destroys the essence of this liberty. Most especially if the person you are attacking isn't a public figure to begin with, not that, celebrities aren't entitled to being respected as well.
In all things, respect should be given to each person. If writers complain that they are just using their right to free speech on their write ups, they also need to consider that people whom they might be writing bad about, also wants to use their rights as well.
